New "Romulan War" Audio Drama Takes Flight!

Updated: Dec 23, 2018

The Romulan War: A Star Trek Fan Production has released a new audio drama as part of their popular ongoing War Stories audio series.

The story, "Final Flight" follows test pilot Geoffrey Christopher who is part of the NX Zeta Project to develop a warp seven engine so that Starfleet can gain an edge against the Romulans in a war that is not going well for Earth. Like the other episodes in the War Stories series, "Final Flight" ties in to the events of The Romulan War fan film which will be released in 2019.

"Final Flight" was written by Mark Naccarato and shines a spotlight on the talents of Jonathan Lane, author of the Fan Film Factor website which reports on Star Trek fan films. In "Final Flight", Jonathan took off his critic hat, grabbed a microphone, and reported for duty as a voice actor, playing the lead character (nerd trivia: the character of Geoffrey Christopher is the direct descendant of Captain John Christopher from the TOS episode "Tomorrow Is Yesterday"). "While I’m not a trained actor, I am a bit of a perfectionist, and I did a LOT of re-takes until I had something I has really happy with," Jonathan said. Jonathan also did several customized photo manipulations and graphics for the "enhanced audio drama" of the story. Jonathan wrote a detailed account of his experience working on this episode on his blog. Several custom CGI shots produced by Trekyards whiz kid Samuel Cockings appear in the enhanced audio version of "Final Flight".

As is the case with all content related to The Romulan War, "Final Flight" was released as an exclusive to the film's backers first before being released to the public. Fans get access to all TRW content through the film's website by contributing $10 or more through the project's Indiegogo page.
